London stadium
LLDC has announced that they would now be willing to give West Ham the naming rights to the London Stadium. However, they would want the Club to pay an additional £4m a year for the naming rights.

Probably the first step toward us buying the thing.

I was told repeatedly on here that we were going to make billions from naming rights, so 4m isn't much

Re: London stadium
We pay £4m to LLDC for the rights to be able to sell them for whatever we want/can get

LLDC haven't exactly done a very good job in selling them till now

I'd say, " yeah, we'll buy the stadium next year and bear in mind how much you've raised in naming rights in our offer to you".

Being stuck in block 247 for the Wolves game it brought it home to me what a dysfunction piece of shit the place is.

There were loads of empty seats for the Wolves game. You could easily have nipped down to behind the goal in the BML.

Re: London stadium
I'd rather it remains the London Stadium rather than calling it after some bookies' firm or other. Save the money and force LLDC to accept their inevitable demise.

Re: London stadium
the LLDC sound a bit desperate to me.
give it time and you'll have the entire stadium for free.

anyway, Brady keeps saying she could have sold the naming rights no problems.

The Queen Elizabeth Stadium might be a nice tribute considering Her Maj was a fan, apparently!

Re: London stadium
Depends what we think we can get PA for it. even if it's 5m then that's 1m extra revenue.

If we can't then no point. But this seems pretty clear that they are maybe getting a bit desperate with the burden of running the thing. I expect if we played hardball despite i am sure the media spitting a bit of bile toward us that we could negotiate them down without too much trouble. Maybe take over catering contracts and a few other things. Depends if for us any extra income is worth the extra work. At the moment the owners have a pretty sweet deal and the convenience of blaming the LLDC for any shortcoming or grumble at the stadium.

Re: London stadium
This is just reminding everyone of how fucking useless public bodies are at running things and how they inevitably lose piles of money.

This is just the start of the process of LLDC throwing in the towel. They can't keep losing money hand over fist and will eventually try to wash their hands of the whole thing.

The big question is though will it be worth WHU taking it on. It might just suit us, financially, to maintain the current arrangement indefinitely.

Re: London stadium
Would just give them another £4m to keep kicking the can down the road. Sounds like a precursor to opening negotiations for sale. West Ham should make a counteroffer for a clean cut sale, but I'm not convinced it's worth paying for considering the overheads. What valuation for a massive loss making white Elephant stuck with a sitting tenant on cheap rent for 100 years? Such businesses are a liability and normally sell for £1 as although there maybe no inherited debt there will be massive ongoing future debt untill revenue streams exceed outgoings which could take years.

Who else would buy it in their right minds. West Ham hold all the ace's, no hurry to change with cheap rent, just sit tight until LLDC funding dries up and they come cap in hand unless they offer a sensible deal. The stadium is worth nothing, the construction was built to last a short life span, only thing worth anything is the land, but that would be wiped out by the huge losses going forward every year. It's a liability.

This should have been agreed long ago. Doubt we will take it until we are negotiating our kit sponsorship again though.
